Flash flood hits Bongaigaon, Chirang

BONGAIGAON, Aug 20 - Bongaigaon and Chirang districts continue to reel under the impact of flash flood. The number of villages affected by the flood in Chirang district increased from 12 to 50 on Wednesday. Out of 17,628 flood-affected people, 651 have taken shelter in four relief camps under the Bijni and Sidli circles of the district.

The flash flood has already breached two roads and damaged one school building at Sisubari in the district. According to reports available, the district administration sent sufficient rations to the relief camps on Wednesday.

Bongaigaon district officials said that out of 1,35,325 people in 76 villages under four revenue circles, 3,013 have taken shelter in seven relief camps in the district. A medical camp has been set up in the Bijni area of the district.
