GUWAHATI, Sept 18 - Flamingo FC of Guwahati annexed the second edition of the IO-Plus Guwahati Futsal Festival�s senior category title defeating NEFIANS FC of Guwahati 2-0 in the final at the Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium in the RG Baruah Sports Complex here on Saturday evening.
Ritwik Pathak netted both the goals for the winning team. Altogether 32 futsal teams from across the Northeast took part in the senior category of the meet which was organised by Guwahati City FC (GCFC) in association with Sportcraft Management.
For the first time U-13 championship was introduced in the championship where Titanium FC defeated Assam Rhinos FC in the final.
Flamingo�s striker Ritwik Pathak was adjudged best player of the tournament while the best goalkeeper award went to another Flamingo player Rishof Ramdasow.
Noted singer Zubeen Garg attended the closing function with his Mission China crew and played an exhibition match against host GCFC.
After the match interacting with the media, Zubeen said he will work with GCFC to uplift Assam as well as Indian football in coming days. He also vowed to take initiative with the club to find out and nurture local talents.
