Fixed-pay employees seek regularisation of jobs

By Correspondent

UDALGURI, Dec 2 - As many as 13 employees appointed by the BTC authorities at the office of the Inspector of Schools here on fixed salaries in 2011, have appealed to the State Government and the BTC authorities to regularise their jobs.

The employees complained on Thursday that they have been facing a lot of problems while making both ends meet, and stated that the Government should look into their grievances.

It has become difficult to support our families, a fixed-pay employee of the office told this correspondent, and appealed to the State Government to regularise their posts at the earliest so that they could work like other permanent employees and render better service to the department.

The employees who were appointed after a written test and viva voce conducted by the Central Selection Board at Kokrajhar felt that it was impossible to support their families on meagre salaries ranging from Rs 4,560 to Rs 5,200 in posts like junior assistant, driver, watchman and Grade-IV staff in the office.

It may be noted that there are five junior assistants, one driver, one night watchman and six Grade-IV fixed-pay employees who have been working in the office of the Inspector of Schools here since March 2011.

According to reliable information, the same condition prevails in the offices of the Inspectors of Schools at Baksa and Chirang districts in the BTAD region, where fixed-pay employees are similarly seeking regularisation of their posts.
