BONGAIGAON, Oct 26 - Police nabbed five youths identified as Basiruddin Mulla (20), Asidul Islam (21), Mijanur Islam (19), Rofiqul Islam (19) and Zahirul Islam (19) from Goraimari under Manikpur Police Station in Bongaigaon district Thursday night.
All the accused are residents of Goraimari and they were involved in a �robbery attempt� on a tanker driver named Osman Gani at the national highway at Dankinamari under Bongaigaon Police Station on October 19 night.
After receipt of a report from Gani, tanker driver and a resident of Baikhungaon in Chirang district, on October 20 police nabbed these five accused on Thursday night.
A case no. 809/2019 under Section 341/384/34 IPC has been registered against the accused. All the accused were sent to judicial custody after police produced them in the court on Friday.
The accused have confessed to their involvement in the incident, said Jyoti Lahan, Officer in Charge of Bongaigaon Police Station.
Two motorcycles, the accused had used in the incident, were also seized by the police.
