Five labourers arrested on charges of hiding in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, April 14: Police on Tuesday evening arrested five persons who managed to travel from outside the state amid the nationwide lockdown on March 24 and hide themselves in a house here.

According to the police, based on an information, those persons, namely Yakub Ali, Mamud Ali, Anowar Ali, Abul Hussain and Monowar Ali, were apprehended from a house at the Hedayetpur locality here.

All of them are labourers working in different entities in Bangalore and New Delhi and all of them hail from Tripura.

In connection with the case, the police also arrested one Abdul Matin who helped the group in taking shelter in the locality.

A case has been registered against them under sections 120B and 188 of IPC and section 51B of the Disaster Management Act.
