Five govt employees suspended in Hailakandi

HAILAKANDI, Jan 28 - Three engineers and two gaon panchayat coordinators of Hailakandi Development Block of Panchayat and Rural Development Department were suspended in Hailakandi for alleged negligence and irregularities in implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin).

Government sources said that the commissioner and secretary of panchayat and rural development, Dr JB Ekka issued the suspension order on January 25. The suspended engineers are Rajesh Paul, Joydip Nath Mazumder and Firoja Yasmin and coordinators are Malay Das and Imran Hussain Laskar.

The Zila Parishad office sources said that they have been suspended for the negligence of duty, non-implementation of the funds under 14th finance commission etc.

It can be mentioned here that there were innumerable allegations against all the five suspended employees regarding the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Hailakandi block. The elected MLAs of Hailakandi and the members of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) made repeated complaints against these employees to the Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Naba Kumar Doley, in Guwahati.

The MLAs and the members of the KMSS also met minster Doley during his maiden visit to Hailakandi last month and demanded action against them. Doley reportedly assured them that the matter will be enquired and action will be taken accordingly.
