HAFLONG, April 6 - Five all-women polling booths will be set up in Haflong, headquarter of Dima Hasao district during the ensuing Lok Sabha election, where polling will be held on April 18.

This step is in a bid to encourage more female voters to exercise their franchise.

As per the Election Commissions (EC) directions to set up polling stations entirely managed by women, five such booths will be set up in Dima Hasao.

The names of the booths are 158-NK Daulagupu LP School, 160-Superintendent of Sericulture Office, 166-Haflong Govt College, 168-Sainza Razi LP School and 178-District Social Welfare Office.

All those deployed at such polling stations, including presiding officers, polling officers, micro observers and security personnel and other employees will be women. This is an initiative towards gender equality involving womens participation in the electoral process.
