GUWAHATI, March 16 - The Kamrup Metro district administration has banned fishing activity in the Brahmaputra river in the stretch from the Saraighat Bridge to the GMDA Intake Well Point at Pandu.

The ban has been imposed with a view to preserving and protecting the ecosystem and habitat of the Ganges river dolphin.
