DOOMDOOMA, July 15 - Taking advantage of the ban imposed by the Government on chalani fish for ten days, a section of �leaders� have started extorting money from fish vendors here on the plea of selling chalani fish.
According to a report, on Friday evening a few youths who claimed to be leaders of an organisation, came to the daily market of Rupai Siding near here and allegedly threatened a fish vendor for selling chalani fish. The youths wanted to take the vendor to the police station. But when the vendor refused to go to the police station, the latter extorted Rs15,000/- from the vendor.
This incident has created strong resentment among the local people.
