GUWAHATI, June 8 - The first biennial conference of the Dispur unit of the Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samiti was held recently at the Rukmininagar Balika Bidyalay here with a daylong programme, said a delayed press release.
The conference was inaugurated by Dr Sulekha Chakravarty Bhattacharya, while the smriti tarpan was initiated by Charu Devi.
The open session was inaugurated by Pratima Baruah and chaired by Dr Sulekha Chakravarty Bhattacharya. In her speech she urged all concerned to put in their best efforts in order to turn the Dispur unit of the Lekhika Samaroh Samiti into a powerful organisation.
President the Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samiti Ava Borah spoke about the contributions of the organisation towards enrichment of Assamese literature and culture. Secretary general of the organisation Darpana Borah Neog spoke briefly about the birth of the Dispur branch. The organisation�s mouthpiece Ritambhara was released by Nilima Bora. Meenakshi Deka presented Borgeet. There were several other speakers at the event.
