Firing incident

By Correspondent

BONGAIGAON, Aug 2 - Fear psychosis gripped Sidhabari village near the Bhutan border under Amguri Police Station in Chirang district after a group of three masked miscreants opened fire on Wednesday night near the residence of a small trader named Sudarsan Sarkar.

It may be mentioned that the miscreants had demanded Rs 15 lakh from the residents of the village and assigned Sarkar to collect the amount. But Sarkar had rejected to carry out the assigned task, for which after a heated argument with the trader the miscreants fired in the air before they left his residence on Wednesday night.

Chirang district Superintendent of Police Sudhakar Singh said he reached the spot with security soon after the firing incident. However, he did not specify the involvement of any militant group in the incident.
