GUWAHATI, May 17 - The annual fire safety drill was conducted today on the premises of State Bank of India's local head office here. The staff of the local head office and officials from the Fire and Emergency department of Dispur Fire Station took part in the drill.
During the drill, a mock fire erupted on the second floor of the building and fire alarm was set off. Consequently, announcements were made from the control room to evacuate the eight-storey building. Thereafter, the electricity in the building was cut off totally.
All the staff were evacuated from the building without any problem. The firefighters then rescued them from the second and sixth floors of the building, using the hydraulic platform ladder and started the fire fighting operations.
