Fire razes 11 shops, 4 rent houses in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Jan 4 - As many as 11 shops and four rent houses were reduced to ashes in a devastating fire at PK Point of Changlang Bazar in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The inferno that broke out on Thursday night led to loss of properties worth lakhs of rupees.

The blaze was so intense that it took almost three hours for the fire fighters, including Changlang police, Assam Rifles jawans and general public to control the fire from spreading further thereby saving many nearby shops and Craft Centre hostel.

Apart from the fire tender, water tanks from Assam Rifles, TK Enterprises were engaged to douse the fire completely. Two gas cylinders exploded in the middle of the process of extinguishing the fire but fortunately no one was injured, official sources said here.

Meanwhile, local MLA Tesam Pongte and Changlang Deputy Commissioner RK Sharma provided interim relief to the fire victims.
