JORHAT, Oct 27 - A massive fire broke out in a gas pipeline (line gas) belonging to Assam Gas Company Limited at Borpatra Ali near Baruah Chariali here this evening creating panic among the people present nearby as the flame rose up to about 20 feet.
Several fire-tenders were pressed into service and firemen were engaged for over one and half hours to bring it under control.
Though exact cause of the fire was not known, leakage of gas from the pipe is suspected, police said. No loss of life and property has been reported.
Investigation was on.
