Fire in Bongaigaon ITI campus

By CORRESPONDENT

BONGAIGAON, Dec 15 - A fire suddenly spread in the scrubby jungles within the campus of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) here on Friday at around 11 am.

Fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire before it could spread towards the residential areas. However, no casualty was reported.

It might have sparked from a burning cigarette butt thrown by someone into the dry bushes, a few staff of the institute presumed.

As the campus has no fencing, anti-social elements often use this scrubland as a safe place for drinking, smoking and substance abuse, staff of the institute alleged.

The head of the institute has allegedly adopted an indifferent attitude towards the burning issues as he remains busy only in paper work and takes no interest to develop the institute, the local residents alleged.
