ITANAGAR, March 28 - Payum, a remote village in Arunachal Pradeshs Siang district, was reportedly engulfed in a devastating fire accident recently.
The entire village consisting of 42 households was completely gutted in the fire mishap that occurred in the intervening night of March 26 and 27.
A senior officer hailing from the area informed that not even a single house could escape the fires wrath, rendering all the families homeless. Many valuable items like traditional ornaments and other precious items have been reduced to ashes in the fire.
There was, however, no report of any casualty. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, he said. The survivors are reportedly facing acute shortage of food and other basic requirements as the village is located 30 km away from the nearest motorable road and it takes one full day of foot march to reach there.
