HAILAKANDI, June 10 - An FIR has been filed at Hailakandi Sadar police station against Rajiv Kumar Jha and two other officials of the Education department by the organisational secretary of KMSS, Jahir Uddin Laskar for alleged embezzlement of Rs 20 crore of pre-matric scholarship meant for minority students.
When contacted, Jha refuted the allegation of embezzlement and said this has been framed to malign him as he tightened all the screws to stop corruption in the department.
Laskar in the FIR alleged that Jha in connivance with an assistant teacher and bank officials siphoned of the fund of scholarship through fake bank accounts.
It is also alleged that there has been widespread corruption and fraud in the name of providing scholarships to the students of the district for the fiscal years 2018-19 and 2019-20.
The AJYCP too has demanded an inquiry into the alleged embezzlement of money in case. In a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi, the AJYCP urged him to institute an inquiry. It also alleged that the money has been allegedly misappropriated showing fake names of schools and students.
