By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 17 The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has filed an FIR against the MBL Construction Company over the issue of caving in of a part of the Ganesh Mandir flyover on the National Highway-37 at Khanapara on June 9.

The FIR was lodged at the Basistha Police Station yesterday, said an official statement.

This comes after an inquiry into the incident conducted by the Dispur Circle Officer, Chinmoy Nath, which found laxity in the work done by the construction firm, it added.

A depression suddenly developed on the flyover in the wee hours on June 9. The front wheels of a long-distance bus got stuck in the depression. Fortunately, there were no casualties due to the incident.

The inquiry found that during the construction of the flyover, the construction company had intentionally ignored the old cross culvert in the portion and avoided the construction of a proper RCC cross culvert in place of the old cross culvert, thus ignoring public safety on the National Highway and misusing government money, added the statement.
