SHILLONG, June 9 - An FIR was filed against an American citizen, Theodore Moallem, today for alleged physical assault on Health personnel at the Shillong Civil Hospital here.
The FIR was filed by doctors of the hospital. On Saturday last, Moallem, who works for an NGO, Blind Lead Trust, here, was taken to the Shillong Civil Hospital by the police after he failed to report about his travel history to Guwahati.
According to officials, he was �uncooperative� and right after being admitted to the hospital, he became violent, vandalising hospital properties and attacking doctors and nurses on duty. Isaac Syiem, a senior general surgeon of the hospital, allegedly suffered fractures during the attack. Although Moallem has since been released from the hospital following his COVID-19 test which was negative and is currently in home quarantine here, the doctors filed the FIR after getting the nod from the State Government.
