GUWAHATI, Aug 18 - The Krishak Sramik Unnayan Parishad, Assam (KSUPA), has filed an FIR against former Forest Minister Rakibul Hussain at the Hatigaon Police Station for his alleged involvement in the sanchi timber smuggling racket.
The Parishad alleged that during the tenure of the former minister, the green cover in the State was exposed to reckless exploitation and rhino killing had escalated.
The Parishad, in a statement issued to the press, said that the involvement of the minister has been proved in a sting operation by a local news channel. �The State government has enough evidence to arrest the former minister. We demand that the government take immediate action and if the government just sits idle, we will take up vigorous steps to intensify our demand,� warned the Parishad.
