GUWAHATI, May 30 � A delegation of the Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER), comprising its chairman RS Joshi, vice chairman Amit Kumar Jain and director Sandeep Khaitan, had a meeting with Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar here today.
According to a press release, the delegation, headed by Joshi, submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister on the issues concerning the NE region, which need to be addressed in the right earnest.
Joshi also apprised the minister of the issues connected with the development of the NE region. Issues concerning the North East Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (NEIIPP), investment in the region by PSUs, promotion of the NE region as an integrated industrial zone, etc., were also raised by the FINER delegation.
The delegation also requested the Union Minister to�initiate steps�to set up a �Pharma Park� in the NE region on the lines of the North East Mega Food Park.
The Union minister gave a patient hearing to the delegation and appreciated the inputs and suggestions put forward by it. He assured the delegation that he would personally take up the issues raised by the delegation with the highest authorities for the development of the North East region.
