GUWAHATI, Aug 27 - Canara Bank, Guwahati Circle, organized a Financial Literacy Camp for Kamrup Metro and also launched its CED for women with a three-day skill development training programme on bamboo and cane products on Wednesday at a function held at the Pragjyotish Cultural Complex, Machkhowa.
Around 100 women SHG members were present in the programme.
B Mahesh Kumar Singh, General Manager, Canara Bank Head Office, Bangalore, was present as the chief guest, along with other dignitaries RP Choudhury, AGM, FIDD, RBI Guwahati, MRK Reddy, DGM, NABARD, Guwahati,� GSR Iyer, AGM, NABARD, Guwahati, Sudip Dhar, LDM, Kamrup Metro, Nikhil Kr Das, Divisional Officer, LIC, Guwahati.
Sekhar Kumar Halder, DGM ,Circle Office, Guwahati, was also present in the programme.
The main focus of the programme was on financial literacy amongst the local women SHG members regarding operations in PMJDY and BSBD accounts and coverage under social security schemes like SBY, PMJJBY, APY introduced by the Prime Minister.
Financial literature on �Money and Savings� in the Assamese language was also distributed during the programme.
RP Choudhury, AGM, FIDD, RBI, Guwahati, especially encouraged Canara Bank�s steps to implement the FLC and social security schemes in the Northeast through �Bank-BC model�.
The dignitaries present elaborated on the three social security schemes and the necessity of such schemes for the people. Nikhil Kr Das, LIC official, gave detailed updates on all the three social security schemes, followed by an interactive session with the local women present.
