MANGALDAI, Oct 4 - The State Information and Public Relations Department has provided a financial grant of Rs 50,000 to critically ill Kharupetia- based senior journalist Manggal Singh Jhanjhari under the Journalist Medical Welfare Scheme.
Manimala Gogoi, Information and Public Relations Officer, Darrang, on Sunday handed over the amount through a cheque to the journalist at his Kharupetia residence in presence of Kharupetia Press Club president Srawan Kr Jha, Mangaldai Press Club president Abdul Khaleque and leading citizens of the area.
The media fraternity of Darrang district has expressed its gratitude to the government.
Earlier on August 13 last, one time financial grant under the scheme was also provided to four selected journalists of the district.
