Financial aid given to needy student

GUWAHATI, June 22 � A programme was organised by the Prabhat Chandra Srutikar Memorial Trust to formally hand over financial assistance to Suman Barman of Bapujee College, Sarukhetri, who hails from a economically weak background. Suman had secured the top most position in Education Major under Gauhati University in the degree final examination held in 2014. This was stated in a press release.

The Vice Chancellor of Cotton College State University Dr Dhruba Jyoti Saikia graced the function held at the Guwahati Press Club as the chief guest and lit the ceremonial lamp.

In his speech, Dr Saikia appreciated the sincere efforts made by the Prabhat Chandra Srutikar Memorial Trust to encourage and inspire needy students for achieving academic success by extending one time financial grant as a support for pursuing higher studies.

He appealed to the students to devote their time to studies along with other constructive activities to be at par with the rapidly-changing educational scenario. He stressed on the need of awareness about various schemes and avenues for studies provided by both the State and Central governments as well as by other funding agencies.

Hiren Dutta, former professor of Gauhati University, Dr HP Sarma, Rector of Gauhati University, Dr Malati Baruch, noted social worker and Komoljyoti Gogoi, Inspector of Schools, Kamrup, Metro, as guests of honour, presented their thought-provoking speeches and lauded the noble objective of the Trust.

Former Principal of Bapujee College Dr Deka and Suman Barman also spoke and expressed their happiness and gratefulness to the Trust.

Earlier, Dr Nilima Bhagabati, Chairman of PCS Memorial Education Trust welcomed the gathering and briefed them about the activities of the Trust. Tanaya Srutikar sang the invocation song, Nandini Sarma Srutikar anchored the programme and vote of thanks was offered by Dr Pranjit Sarma, the release added.
