IMPHAL, May 16 � Celebrating the 43 years of Manipuri Cinema, the Film Forum Manipur (FFM) organised a programme �Jewel of Manipuri Cinema� at the Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) auditorium here on Thursday.
Popular filmmaker Aribam Syam was honoured during the celebration by presenting him a cash award of Rs 1,01,000, a memento worth Rs 10,000 and a white shawl for his contributions to Manipuri cinema in the last 40 years.
Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh attended the celebration as the chief guest.
A 14-page booklet �Jewel of Manipuri Cinema 2015� which was mainly based on the profile and achievements of Aribam Syam was released by the Chief Minister.
Aribam Syam announced that the cash award he received will be donated for instituting a welfare fund for the persons involved in Manipuri cinema.
