Filling up of vacant ADC posts urged

By Correspondent

GAURIPUR, May 3 Dhubri district on the Indo-Bangla border has been lacking transparency in discharging vital duties like NRC, election-related works, floods, natural calamities like earthquakes, hailstorms, extremist-related problems, education, health and the like, because of the dire shortage of administrative officers like Additional Deputy Commissioners. Presently, there are three Additional Deputy Commissioners. The senior-most Additional Deputy Commissioner NF Hussain has been transferred on promotion, one senior ADC is to leave the district on promotion, while another is reported to be on long medical leave. Practically, one ADC has been discharging his duties and he is said to be overworked.

The general people of the district are running from pillar to post to have their legacy code numbers, as there are practically no officers to look after the cases. Smuggling of cattleheads, illegal timber trade, theft, dacoity, murder, rape etc., are seen increasing day-by-day and practically there is no authority to check these antisocial activities, alleged the affected people. Common people of the district feel that they have been neglected as the Government has paid no attention to redress their difficulties and as such, they have urged the Government to fill up the vacant posts of the Additional Deputy Commissioners without further delay.
