Files missing from GMDA office

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 20 In a mysterious development, some important files have been found missing from the office of the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), following which a case has been registered with the Bhangagarh police station.

The matter was detected late, as the GMDA office had remained closed from April 14 to 17 during the Rongali Bihu.

Police said that as per the FIR, GMDA employees found an almirah which was broken apparently when the office was closed and some crucial files were found missing.

A case no. 89/2011 has been registered in this connection.

GMDA chief executive officer Pritam Saikia said that the lost documents related to some agreements etc., and can be reconstructed as we keep two sets of such documents.

On the allegation that the lost files lost to those wanted by CAG in connection with financial anomalies, Saikia denied it, saying that the office of the AG had earlier sought information on certain documents which were already handed over to the auditing agency.
