Felicitation-cum-counselling programme at Goalpara

GOALPARA, June 2 - The district administration organised a felicitation-cum-career counselling programme for all the meritorious students who excelled in the recent HSLC and HS examinations including the three rank holders from the district at the Natyasurya Phani Sarma Bhavan on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka said that it is the aim in life that keeps everyone going and one should stand up/ fight against all odds, work hard in case of failure and try to achieve one�s aim. There is no doubt that one�s hard work will definitely lead to success in life.

She also said that it was like family members felicitating all the students, besides the three who secured ranks in the HSLC and AHM examinations, for their exceptionally brilliant results. �Their achievements have made all of us proud,� she said. She urged students to become responsible individuals and be ready for future challenges. She also congratulated all the hard working students, teachers and supportive parents.

At the career counselling session, many resource persons spoke on the importance of career counselling.They all emphasised that picking a career usually comes after picking a course and if a student does not choose the right course, then it would inadvertently affect their career choices. Topics ranging from entrepreneurship, medicine, arts and science and some professional courses were discussed. Entreprenuer Atreyee Borooah Thekedath, actor Kapil Bora, former Principal, Goalpara College, Dr Ratan Bhattacharjee, Dr Arup Kr Das, Dr Hrishikesh Kalita, subject teacher, PR Govt HS & MP School, Partha Pratim Das, senior journalist Dilip Sarma etc., also spoke on the occasion.

As many as 91 students were awarded a certificate of merit for their excellent results and received recycled notepads by the district administration. The programme was sponsored by the contribution made by the deputy commissioner and her juniors including officials from Jt Director, Department of Health & Family Welfare and the Department of Education besides others.
