Fear of losing stalks Cong: BJP

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 30 - With the countdown for the 2016 Assam Assembly elections having started, the fear of losing has strongly struck the Congress leadership and this has been evident in the views and remarks passed by the leadership. This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh spokesperson Rupam Goswami while addressing mediapersons here today.

Goswami said that the cheap remarks made by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on the issue of the State BJP president being termed a precious gem by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, show that Gogoi is envious of the chief ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal.

Goswami said Sonowal has proved his fortitude in each and every step of his political and social life and is rightly known as Jatiya Nayak of Assam. The spokesperson also stated that Chief Minister Gogoi should not forget that he was relieved of the portfolio of food and civil supplies and given a consolatory portfolio of food processing during the PV Narasimha Rao-led Central government, which itself raised questions on his calibre.

Taking a dig at Congress leaders like Sanjay Singh and Manmohan Singh, Goswami said it is the Congress and its leaders who come to Assam only to be representatives of the State, and after fulfilling their purpose they do not set foot on the soil of Assam.

The BJP State spokesperson said that a party with leaders who have been to jail for bribing the CBI or are the main accused of car-thief rackets, should better not point its fingers at others. Bringing in the issue of Vijay Mallyas case of money laundering Goswami affirmed that the Prime Minister himself has addressed the public in this regard and has promised that whoever is involved in these cases will not be spared and each and every single penny would be taken out of them.

Goswami also stated that the governor of a state directly comes under the President of India and it is a vague remark on behalf of Tarun Gogoi to associate the Governor with the BJP. He said it was the Congress that had in the past used the governors as per their political convenience.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Pabitra Margherita informed that an order has been issued by the partys State president, withdrawing the expulsion order against the following members Dipak Ruhi Das, Abhayapuri South; Bikram Singh Basumatari, Majbat; Pinku Das and Ramendra Kr Sarkar, Mangaldoi and Biren Ojha, Goalpara East.
