FCI taste first win in super league

By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 5 - Food Corporation of India (FCI) Sports Club finally managed to gather first full points in four outings with a 1-0 victory against Ganga Sports Club in the GSA Super Division Football League for the RG Baruah Trophy.

On a slippery underfoot condition at the Nehru Stadium here today, Michael Lalhuraitluanga scored the lone goal of the match in the 37th minute.

Michael received the ball from a David March Gayary pass from the middle and made a one-two pass with Mithinga Daimary. By this time the Ganga defenders left a gap and opportunist Michael fired home beating the opponent goalkeeper Goutam Naskar at his left.

Apart from the goal there was nothing much in the match as both the teams were seen reluctant in going all out.

Ganga SC players were not in their previous form and looked quite rusty. Earlier the team played encouraging game and troubled the opponents with laudable game plan. Their players are also skilful having perfection in basics. But today, neither they could create opening at the FCI goal area nor prevent Michael from hitting the target.
