FCI drub Jewel Star, in quarters

GUWAHATI, July 7 � Food Corporation of India (FCI) Sports Club showed no mercy to Jewel Star as they fired six salvos against nil in today�s pre-quarterfinal match of the Kaamaakaji NN Bhattacharya Football Tournament.

In a totally one-sided affair at the Nehru Stadium here today, Thomson Landthasa drew first blood in the 29th minute and after that the FCI strikers started scoring at regular intervals.

Imli Toshi increased the margin in the 37th minute while Lalding Ghate took the scoreline to 3-0 in the 46th minute. Imli netted his second and team�s fourth goal in the 63rd minute while Thomson made it 5-0 in the 86th minute. The final goal came off the boots of Lalrem Hmar in injury time.

The new look Jewel Star team hardly could had any impact on the opponent which showed better technique in all departments. Thomson was declared best player of the match.

Today�s match: ASEB vs Nabajyoti (1.30 pm); Dynamo vs City Police (3.30 pm)
