Fci down Nagaland Police, in semis

UDALGURI, Oct 5 � The Food Corporation of India SC (FCI) of Guwahati entered the semifinal stage of the ongoing 17th of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Gold Cup football championship outsmarting Nagaland Police 2-1 in the closely fought third quarter final match played here today at Udalguri Stadium.

Both the teams started the proceeding with a positive note from the very beginning. The FCI boys missed a good number of chances through out the course. It was, however FCI striker Biswamitra Basumatary who opened the account in 8th minute. Thomson Langthasa increased the margin in the 35th minute and FCI took commendable lead.

The struggling Nagaland Police players finally managed to reduce the margin in the in the 37 minutes through striker Asa. During the session both the teams toiled a lot in search of goal but all their efforts went in vain as the strikers failed to shot home despite creating opportunities.

Tomorrow in the last quarter final, the Assam Police Blues will play against Assam Rifles.
