By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, June 21 In a lack lustre encounter of the on going Assam State Premier League at the Nehru Stadium here today, host FC Green Valley pipped Guwahati FC 1-0.

Nigerian striker Michael Lucky scored the all important goal in the 82nd minute. Receiving a pass from substitute Jagjit Singh at the top of the box, Michael cruised into the Guwahati FC goal box and unleashed a feeble grounder. The ball passed through goalkeeper Santi Ranjan Das to rest in the net.

Santi could not keep his cool in preventing Michaels shot despite the angle was very narrow.

After the match Micheal, who scored six goals in seven matches, opined that the opponent team has a good defence line and it was a difficult nut to crack. He, however, expressed his satisfaction for scoring the lone goal of the match. But the well built Nigerian believes that their midfielders should come up for hitting the target as he and George Prince are always marked heavily by the opponent defenders.

Apart from the goal no team could open scoring opportunity through out the course. Both the teams basically adopted defensive tactics and hardly made all out effort in creating gap at the striking zones. For Guwahati FC Abisher Ray, Newson Kom and Laldinliana Varte tried to build some moves in the Green Valley area but their final works were not accurate enough which could harm the opponent.

The Green Valley defenders did a loudable job by foiling all the moves made by the opponent frontliners.

With todays victory Green Valley collected 19 points from seven matches with six win and a draw. They are almost certain to top the table in the Lower Assam Zone.
