Father admits to burying son after murder

DIBRUGARH, Oct 30 � One Bishram Mundu (60) of Bholukaguri village under Borbam police outpost in Tingkhong, was arrested today for murdering his son Annand Mundu (25) and destroying evidences of the crime.

Bishram had reportedly killed his son accidentally four months back and had him buried at his backyard. He admitted to the crime before Pabitra Kumar Das, Executive Magistrate of Tingkhong circle and police at the Borbam police outpost, Anil Kumar Baruah, Officer in Charge of Tingkhong PS told The Assam Tribune.

The truth came to light when the eldest son, staying separately in the same village asked his father why he wore such a troubled and distressed look. Unable to bear the guilt and pain, Bishram with tears rolling down his cheeks, narrated the incident to his eldest son. He reportedly said that Annand had on that day come home drunk as usual and had picked up fight with him. During the fight, the father said he hit Annand�s head with a pida (small wooden stool for sitting). Annand later succumbed to the head injury, he said.

Bishram was later asked by his son and relatives to surrender before the police and admit the crime. After admission of the crime, a police team led by Magistrate Pabitra Kumar Das got the body of Annand Mundu exhumed and later sent it for post mortem. Police has registered case under Section 302 and 201 IPC.
