SILCHAR, May 6 � The Sara Bharat Krishak Sabha, a farmer�s organisation along with five other associations on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration against the land acquisition Bill proposed by the Centre. The protesting organisations also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister of India demanding that the Bill must be scraped immediately.
On behalf of the Krishak Sabha, Pradip Choudhury said that the proposed Bill is detrimental to the interest of the farmers. �This is a bone crushing proposal tilted in the interest of the corporate. We strongly oppose the Bill and want this to be scraped immediately,� he said, adding that the government has also overlooked the provisions of the land acquisition process in the pursuit of placing this Bill in the Lok Sabha.
The district units of the Students Federation of India, Centre for Indian Trade Union Congress, All India Democratic Women�s Organisation, All India Democratic Youth Federation and Shramik Karmachari Shikshak Samannay Samiti have expressed solidarity to the demand of the Krishak Sabha.
