AGARTALA, April 4 � Congress Working Committee (CWC) member, Luizenho Faleiro on Monday lashed out at the CPM led Left Front in Tripura for taking the �beautiful� state to backwardness while the entire nation was marching ahead amid global recession.
The Congress-led UPA government is not differentiating when it comes to allocation under various flagship programmes said Faleiro, in-charge of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) at a press conference at Congress Bhavan.
�The Union government had allocated Rs. 58,000 crore to Tripura during the last 18 years. Even after availability of central fund, the state�s BPL population stands at 67 per cent and number of unemployed youth touches six lakh�, he pointed out.
According to him, around Rs. 232 crore MGMREGA fund was remained unspent during the 2009-10 financial year. Falerio alleged that whatever money was being given to the state, had not been spent properly for welfare of common people though CPM party has always been claiming it representated weaker section. The government became bankrupt as it could not make use of the central funds dispatched for development of the state.
�Corruption, nepotism and denial of basic service to people have become an integral part of the Marxist rule. My good memory regarding the state is fading behind oblivion after seeing the sorry state of affairs in the state�, Faleiro said.
Former Goa Chief Minister said that he had a mission to strengthen the organisation right from PCC-level-to BCC level. Asked about the progress of PCC organization election, Faleiro said, �It was not in my mind. I came here to give a patient hearing to Congress leaders before going to the people of the state�.
He praised the incumbent PCC president Surajit Datta for his organisation discipline and performance. �I appreciate the party�s state unit president the way he handled the party�s organisation affairs and made a good base�, he said. Faleiro further said that an action plan will be prepared shortly to rejuvenate the party and its all front organisations down to grassroot level to fight the misrule of the CPI-M led Left Front Government.
