TINSUKIA, Feb 10 � Acting on tip-off, Doomdooma police arrested five persons in connection with dealing of fake currency notes and recovered fake currency amounting to Rs 64,700 from them.
Police first apprehended Pradip Mahanti (20) of Samdung TE, Doomdooma PS and Dipjyoti Saikia (21) of Dhelakhat under Tinsukia PS on February 7 and recovered fake currency notes amounting Rs10,000. Trailing on their information police apprehended Rupali Sonoal, a 36-year-old lady of Ajukha village under Dhola PS at Tinsukia ASTC bus station while she was trying to flee towards Dibrugarh and recovered another bundle of fake currency notes amounting Rs 11,700. Acting upon the statements of the lady, police later arrested two other youths, namely, Bipul Kr Gohain and Dipen Chetia from Moran with fake currency amounting Rs 43,000 from them.
The investigation is on and police hoped that more people might be entangled in the gang and would be apprehended soon.
