Fake currency gang busted

DIPHU, April 24 - Bokajan Police led by SDPO (sub divisional police officer) Bokajan, Padma Pegu arrested four people including a woman from a hideout near Bokajan yesterday and also recovered fake currency worth lakhs of rupees from their possession.

Padma Pegu later informed the press that a joint team of Bokajan Police and Khatkhati Police which was keeping a close watch on two suspects, James Goyary and Akhumla Yimchunger (female) of Darugabagan locality managed to take them under custody and after interrogation, recovered 8 lakh in fake currencies including 4 lakh in Rs 500 notes, Rs 2 lakh in Rs 200 notes, Rs 1 lakh in Rs 100 notes and Rs 1 lakh in Rs 50 notes. The team also recovered a scooty bearing registration no NL 07 R 9496 from them.

During interrogation, the duo revealed names of two more persons Mohammad Abdul Manik and Mohammad Taj Uddin from Bokajan area, who were picked up while they were trying to flee to Khatkhati.

While searching the rented house of James Goyary, police recovered Rs 2,16,350 in fake currencies along with a scanner machine, computer, lamination machine, Xerox machine, five mobile phones and some chemicals (yet to be verified) used for printing fake currencies.
