Fake certificate issuing racket busted in Dhubri; 2 held

DHUBRI, June 22 - Police have apprehended two persons from Dhubri town area who were allegedly engaged in making fake certificates and issuing PAN cards with the help of those fake certificates.

It was informed by the police that they have arrested one Bipul Saha of LNB Road, ward no. 1, Dhubri and Bahadur Chaudhary of Bahadurtarry, ward no. 11, Dhubri from the LNB road area where the accused were operating a full-fledged office through which PAN card issuing applications were provided. It was also informed that the duo served their clients by helping them with fake certificates, particularly birth certificates for applying for PAN cards.

Police also informed that the duo has been operating in Dhubri town area since long and has connections with such groups in other places too. Bipul is a tax and insurance investigator and consultant and is an authorised PAN card agent.

While talking to this correspondent in this regard, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dhubri, G Deka said that the matter is serious, especially for a sensitive area like Dhubri.

�With the use of fake certificates, these accused were issuing original PAN cards which is a valid and authorised document,� he said while cautioning that this act can be a threat to national security.

The ASP also assured that an investigation into the matter has already started and they will try to identify all the clients of the accused who have been issued such documents.

Meanwhile, the police recovered 150 fake birth certificates, PAN card application forms, two CPUs along with a scanner, printer, laptop and seals. The police have also registered a case no. 708/17 under Dhubri Police Station under section 120B, 21A, 468, 471 and 420 IPC.
