GUWAHATI, Jan 29 � Fancied North Zone and Head Quarter earned facile victories in the 43rd All India Food Corporation of India (FCI) Zonal Cricket Tournament.
In two group league matches played at the Nehru Stadium here today, North trounced North East Zone by eight wickets while in the other match Head Quarter handed a seven-wicket drubbing to West Zone. West Zone were restricted to 122 for nine in the allotted 20 overs and in reply North plundered 125 losing three wickets in 15.2 overs.
The second match was also a one-sided one as in reply to North East Zone�s paltry 108 for eight, North Zone hammered 111 for two in 14.4 overs.
However, despite their defeats today, both North East and West Zone have qualified for the semifinal stage from group A and B respectively as second teams. North and Head Quarter topped group A and B respectively.
