GUWAHATI, May 19 � The All Assam Koch Students� Union (AAKSU) in an extraordinary meeting of its central executive committee here today, decided to move the Gauhati High Court on the issue of granting a separate ethnic group status to the Koch-Rajbongshis of the State.
It also decided to hold awareness meetings among the Koch-Rajbongshis to throw a veritable challenge to the ruling parties in the State as well as at the Centre during the 2016 Assembly elections of the State for their failure to facilitate granting of ST status to the Koch-Rajbongshis.
The meeting took the Sadou Asam Koch Rajbongshi Unnayan Parishad to task for indulging in �rampant corruption.�
The participants of the meeting demanded proper investigation into the allegations of corruption indulged in by the Unnayan Parishad office-bearers and members. The meeting adopted a resolution to submit a memorandum to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in this respect and also in connection with the demand for according scheduled tribe status to the Koch-Rajbongshis, besides authorising the AAKSU as the body for issuance of the OBC certificates to the Koches.
