Extended Guwahati-Jhajha Express flagged off

DIBRUGARH, March 21 � The extended Guwahati-Jhajha Express on its maiden journey from Dibrugarh town railway station was formally flagged off on Saturday by local MP Paban Singh Ghatowar in the presence of Shiv Kumar, General Manager, NF Railway, S Mukherjee, Divisional Railway Manager, Tinsukia and MLAs of the region.

The train 5641/5642 will run weekly, starting every Thursday at 6:10 am and reaching Jhajha at 5:50 pm on Friday. In the reverse direction, it will leave Jhajha at 10:05 pm every Friday and arrive at Dibrugarh at 10:55 am on Sunday. Jhajha is a hot pilgrimage spot in Jamui district of Bihar. On the inaugural run, the train left at 11:45 am.

With this extension of Guwahati-Jhajha Express up to Dibrugarh, there will be five weekly train services from Dibrugarh to different parts of the country. The Guwahati-Jhajha Express train was first introduced on November 6, 2004 from Guwahati. Railway Minister Mamata Bannerjee in her budget speech of 2009-2010 had announced the extension of the train beyond Guwahati up to Dibrugarh.
