Explosives found in Barpeta, 1 held

GUWAHATI, March 13 - Based on specific inputs, troops of Red Horns Division under Gajraj Corps along with Barpeta Police launched a joint operation on March 11 and recovered explosives from a shop at Goraimari in the district, a Defence release stated. An apprehended individual was allegedly involved in fabricating improvised explosives devices (IED) in his shop. The Army recovered five explosives, each weighing approximately 500 gms, which were wound with rope and shrapnel and further packed with red tape. Another plastic bag with �white powder� was recovered, which is suspected to be potassium nitrate, a substance used to make explosives. The material was subsequently sent for forensic analysis and the apprehended individual handed over to Barpeta Police.
