JAMUGURIHAT, Aug 11 - Panic prevailed for a few hours this morning at No.1 Batamari village on the side of Rangachakuwa Marisuti road near Mount Sinai English School Jamugurihat as some people noticed an object from which smoke was emanating. The VDP informed the Jamuguri police station and the OIC Manik Bormudoi rushed to spot with JCB and fire tenders, but before his arrival, the object exploded wounding VDP secretaries Rajkamal Chetry and Raghu Borah.
The OIC took the object to the police station, but again he got information of another explosion. The SP, Biswanath, Rakesh Roshan along with Bormudoi rushed to the spot but did not find anything. The SP later confirmed that the object found near the school was not a bomb, but a 81- mm mortar shell used by the Army in a firing range. �It had probably come with sand gravel brought from Arunachal border for repairing the road and definitely it was neither a bomb, nor any sabotage activity of extremists�, he said asking people not to panic.
