SILCHAR, March 22 � A seven-day exhibition on the life and works of poet laureate Rabindranath Tagore will be organised by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The exhibition will be held at the Women�s College, Silchar from March 27.

In a release issued to the media, Dr Manoj Kumar Paul, principal of the college, said that the IGNCA New Delhi, established in the memory of the former Prime Minister is visualised as a centre encompassing the study and experience of all the arts. �A pioneering attempt has been made by the IGNCA to tread the national and international frontiers and the forthcoming exhibition on the illustrated works of one of India�s greatest sons is a step towards its goal of building a strong network base, both across the country and abroad, for research and publication works,� he said, adding that this will be the first of its kind exhibition in Northeast India.

He said that alongside the national-level exhibition, the Women�s College, Silchar will host three discussions on the topics �Women as a theme in Tagore�s creation�, �National Sentiments and Tagore� and �Tagore in My Eyes� on March 29, April 1 and 2 respectively.

A documentary will also be shown after the inaugural session on the opening day. It will be followed by a discussion on �Management of Cultural Resources� in which invited local speakers along with two speakers from the IGNCA will take part.
