Exhibition on rabi crops held

NALBARI, Feb 28 - The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) here organised an awareness meeting cum exhibition for different rabi crops on Wednesday.

The day-long exhibition was inaugurated by Nalbari Deputy Commissioner Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury. The awareness camp was inaugurated by Nalbari LAC MLA Ashok Sharma. They visited the stalls of the exhibition.

Dr Ramani Thakuria, chief scientist at AAU, Jorhat, also attended the meeting.

Dr Mridul Deka, head of Nalbari KVK, welcomed all the delegates, stakeholders and participants, and elaborated the activities and achievements of KVK.

He also explained the scope and importance of increasing production of different rabi crops, pulses and oil seed crops.

The Deputy Commissioner, while addressing the gathering of more than 250 farmers, youths and entrepreneurs, urged the farmers to work hard.

He urged upon the farmers to adopt modern technologies for making Nalbari an agriculturally advanced district of Assam. MLA Ashok Sharma, in his brief address, also urged the farmers to double their income with the help of different government schemes.

A senior progressive farmer Joycharan Haloi addressed the participants and exhorted them to dedicate themselves by adopting mechanised procedures to contribute to the agricultural production.

Scientist Dr Thakuria also delivered a lecture on water management on the occasion.
