Exhibition on Gandhi from Oct 14

GUWAHATI, Oct 12 - A seven-day mega multimedia interactive exhibition on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi has been planned at the Sonaram High School playground from October 14 to 20 by the Regional Outreach Bureau, Guwahati under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The week-long exhibition will be the first of its kind in the entire North-Eastern region, covering an area of 10,000 sq ft. The exhibition will showcase the life, philosophy and ideals of Gandhi.

The exhibition will showcase some of the objects and possessions of Mahatma Gandhi along with some rare pictures of Gandhi�s visit to various places in Assam. In the exhibition, the handwritten letters of Gandhi, rare pictures of his life and stay in South Africa, flipbook, a complete timeline of Mahatma Gandhi, etc. will be showcased.

The seven-day event will also include various performances, viz. dance, drama, interactive sessions and discussions. The exhibition will include cultural programmes like mimes, folk dances, depicting cultures and traditions of different tribes of Assam and other parts of the North-East.

The artistes from the Song & Drama Division will be staging a five-hour dance marathon, depicting dance forms of eight North-Eastern States.

Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi will be inaugurating the event on October 14 at 6.30 pm.
