GUWAHATI, Nov 3 - With an effort to bring back football atmosphere in Guwahati, a prize-money exhibition match will be played at the Judges� Field here on November 5.
The players of the Super Division football clubs under Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) will be divided into two teams � Guwahati Metro XI and Directorate of Sports XI. The winners will receive Rs 10,000 and the losing team will get Rs 5,000. Best player of the match will also be presented cash award. Sports Commissioner Moloy Bora will be present as chief guest during the match.
Disclosing this in a press conference here today, the organising committee chairman Pulak Goswami said that GSA and Directorate of Sports will provide technical support for organising the match which will be a 90-minute affair. If no result appears then the match will proceed into tie-breaker.
Secretary of the Assam Olympic Association Lakhya Konwar said that as COVID-19 brought a halt to sporting activities in the State along with the whole world, they are organising the match in a bid to revive the football environment in the city so that other tournaments could be started as early as possible.
Assam Football Association official Hiren Gogoi and officials of the GSA clubs were also present in the press conference.
The match will kick start at 1.30 pm.
