GUWAHATI, Nov 5 - Directorate of Sports XI custodian Daoga Brahma kept his cool in the sudden death to convert from the spot and help his team edge past Guwahati Metro XI by an aggregate of 4-3 goals in the prize-money exhibition football match played at the Judges� Field here today. The match was organised with the support from Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) and the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare with an effort to bring back football atmosphere in Guwahati. The teams featured players from the GSA Super Division League clubs.
With no result coming out in regulation time, both the teams netted three goals each in the penalty shoot-out. In sudden death, Directorate of Sports goalkeeper Daoga Brahma stepped in to convert from the spot while Guwahati Metro shooter Ranish Ahmed failed to hit the net.
The winning team walked away with a cash award of Rs 10,000 while the losing team pocketed Rs 5,000. Basanta Boro of the Guwahati Metro team was named best player of the match and he received Rs 1,000. Moloy Bora, Commissioner and Secretary of the Sports Department was the chief guest and handed over the prize to the winning team. Dharma Kanta Mili, Director of Sports, presented the award to the Guwahati Metro XI team while Assam Football Association official Hiren Gogoi gave away the cash award to Basanta.
