GUWAHATI, June 9 The executives of the public sector Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today started their two-day dharna programme on the Panbazar BSNL premises here as part of a countrywide two-day agitation programme of the BSNL executives in protest against the authoritarian and unjustified imposition of new management trainee cadre at the middle level instead of the feeder level. The call for the agitation has been given by the United Forum of BSNL Executives Associations.
The agitating BSNL executive said in a statement here today that despite having a pool of qualified officers with range of experience in telecommunication and finance, the BSNL management is bent on unwarranted and unjustified external recruitment of a new cadre. Thus the management is denying promotion to its existing manpower to the managerial level unlike other leading central public sector enterprises.
They attribute the present situation to a hired management the ITS officers on deputation. They allege that these ITS officers are more keen on securing their managerial positions by delaying or blocking promotions of the junior executives, instead of leading the enterprise to profitability. Staff Reporter
